Family-Styled RecordsThe recent release by Family-Styled Records is described as “a compilation with variety.” And, variety is what you get with this CD.

Family-Styled Records is the home of Bishop Fred A. Jones, Sr, & The Jones Family Singers. Thus, it is no surprise that the new CD contains songs done by various members of the Jones’ Family. The CD is simply titled Family Styled Records Presents The Family.

The opening song, “He’s Blessing Me,” was recorded by Bishop Fred A. Jones, Sr, & The Jones Family Singers. It is followed by “Ooh Wee,” by Simply Alexis and features Chelle Griggs-Baugh. Fred A. Jones, Jr. and Michael Robertson are featured on “Hold On.” The younger generation of the Jones Family (KB-Free) step up on “Heaven.” The final song is the remix of “Keep Lifting Him Up” by Stephone.

A few years ago, The Turner Brothers of Apopka, Florida, hit the airways with the song – “A Family That Prays Together Stays Together.” The Jones Family has taken that to another level and have shown that ‘a family that praises God together (and record for the same label) stays together.’

Sacred Sons of ZionHave not heard of the Sacred Sons Of Zion? Well, that is about to change. Get ready for a group that is new in name only. The members are seasoned professional that have been in the music industry for years. This is a group that can (and does) deliver some of the smoothes ballads you will find by any active group in the quartet gospel genre.

Who are the Sacred Sons of Zion? The group is the result of the merger of two groups, The Sons of Zion and The Sacred Sons. The Sons of Zion members have included brothers Isaiah and Frank Stokes, Johnny Townsend, David Stokes, Seneca Bond, Sr., David, Pastor David Anderson, Lloyd Adams and James Lester. The Sacred Sons members included Pastor John Davis, Minister Seneca Bonds, III, Stephen (J.R.) Anderson, Jr., and Jarele Bonds.

The two groups have now joined forces and are collectively known as The Sacred Sons of Zion. Their new CD is titled Good News. Not only are the members outstanding vocalists, they are songwriters, musicians, composers and producers. The public is the beneficiary of all this talent by way of the CD Good News.

There are really some great songs on the CD. Like the ballads “Lord You’ve Done,” “I’ll Go,” “Changed” and an extended version of “Near The Cross.” For those that are looking for an upbeat tempo song listen to titled track, “Good News.”

The ShepherdsIn 2003 The Shepherds released the CD Trilogy. In 2007 they released the CD Tribute. Both CDs were on the Amen Record Label and were received well by gospel music fans.

The group’s new CD, titled New Beginnings, is on Strawberry Vinyl Records Label. The title reflects that fact that there are new personnel in the group. Musician Lonnie Clark was formerly with The Flint Cavaliers. And, Dandre Williams is now the percussionist for the group.

There are 14 songs of the new CD. There is the down home ‘let’s go to church’ God Can. Radio Angels should like this particular track. It is sure to have listeners call to say “play that one again.” And, the same can be said about You Can’t Stop Me and Turn It Over.

In addition to the old fashion church songs, there are two bonus Christmas songs on the CD. They are Away In A Manger and Jesus, Wonderful Child.

According to The Shepherds, “We want to present Christ and draw people through his anointing. Our message is music ministry with the word of God blended together to give Him our most excellent praise.”

Well, they have reached their goal with the new release. When you put this CD in your player, get ready for a praise and worship service.
