The Legends of Quartet Gospel DayIt is good to see some of The Legends of Quartet Gospel having their special day. The following is a posting from Quartet Central Message Board (by Evangelist Loretta Coleman) that got our attention:

Living Legends of Quartet Day, Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010 is a celebration symbolic of our desire to promote superior inspirational music from various parts of this great country. We have our beloved Male Choruses represented as we all know it is the Male Choruses that keep quartet Gospel Music Alive in the churches today. We have these wonderfully anointed area male and female quartet groups that represent many parts of North Carolina with some of our premium singers. And of course we have the Living Legends of Quartet that have paved the way not just for quartet artist but for gospel artist everywhere.

We CARE works hard to sponsor and coordinate events that improve the quality of life in the community and surrounding areas where we work, live, and share our musical heritage. In keeping with our mission we promote concerts, fundraisers, listening parties and fund a weekly radio broadcast to ensure that Traditional Gospel Music remains on the air in the hearts of the Carolinas. The We CARE Saturday Morning Broadcast works to rebuild and promote Traditional Gospel Music in Wake County and the surrounding areas. This is out 4th year broadcasting on POWER 750 WAUG and our third radio Anniversary. We praise God as we have become one of Raleigh’s most celebrated Gospel Music broadcast

in such a short period of time.

Our Anniversary is committed to preserving Black Quartet Gospel Music and the vision of promoting the legendary artist that remain. This year’s concert features Gospel Greats Rev. Thomas J. Spain & The Brooklyn Allstars, The Swanee Quintet of Augusta GA, Willis Pittman & The Burden Lifters of Richmond, VA and The Return of Slim’s Original Angels, Together these legends have given the gospel music industry more than 181 years of the finest music ever. Thank you, Legends of Gospel. Also on program, Bishop R L Ponder & The Ponder Bros., The Walker Sisters, Grady Walston & Friends and The Lincolnville All Male Chorus.

Bishop R. L. Ponder & The Ponder BrothersI Still Remember is Bishop R. L. Ponder & The Ponder Brothers’ second release on the Low Rush Music label. With the release of Wonderful God last year, the group began to establish a national following. I Still Remember is sure to solidify that following.

There are eleven (11) new songs on this project. From the first track, I Still Remember, to the final track, Life Narration, the project is full with great gospel quartet music. Bishop Ponder has been described as “a pioneer of soul stirring, traditional and contemporary gospel.” The Bishop will remind many of legendary quartet lead singers from the golden era of gospel quartet music. And, that is not a surprise; after all, Bishop Ponder was a member of the legendary Swan Silvertones and The Mighty Golden Crowns.

While listening to “Jesus Love Me,” you might find yourself thinking that is Spencer Taylor of the Highway QC’s. Well, not really, the song just shows the ‘versatility’ of the Bishop.

This release features the sermonette style “Life Narration.” What a powerful ending to an exceptional CD.

By the way, all songs are composed and arranged by Bishop Ponder. Bishop R. L. Ponder & The Ponder Brothers’ certainly have a winner with this project. Listen to songs from the CD during Gloryland Gospel Radio’s Quartet Gospel Mix on May 29, 2010.
