Recently, we received a CD from Best Ever Music Company and Brilliant Minds Records. Having never heard of these labels, and with the names “Best Ever” and “Brilliant Minds,” it certainly got our attention.
The CD is titled Introducing Peace Angel. As we listen to the CD, it became apparent that “this is a good CD.” The artists on this project are indeed ‘singers.’ As we began to seek out information about the artists on the CD, we learned that our assessment was correct – they are indeed ‘singers.’ The CD is actually a compilation consisting of songs from Eddie Garland, Rev. Sam E. Solo, Betty Maker, and Reggie Garland.
Reading their bio we discovered, that “Peace Angel, [is] a new gospel label through Brilliant Minds Records, took a few local artists who had previously worked with Motown, added a female artist, and came up with their first product. Producers Reggie Garland and Betty Maker hope to share their love of God with others and feel they have a bright future.”
The future does look good for this new label from Flint, Michigan. Just look at the track record of the artists. “Rev. Sam E. Solo, ordained as a minister this year, released 2 hits on the Ruby Record label in the 1960s, “Love Is Not A Game” and “Tears Keep Falling”.” Eddie Garland previously recorded with “Alphonso and the Lavelles, and also the ensemble 21st Generation.
Reggie Garland is the former lead singer with groups that include The Perfections and Mixed Sugar. Betty Maker is a writer, recording artist, composer, arranger and producer.
As the bio reflected these are all seasoned singers. Those that honed their vocals in the secular field have not brought all that talent and energy to songs praising our Lord and Savior.
Eddie Garland can be heard on Jesus At Calvary, God Don’t Make Mistakes, Alwaysness and Jesus My Savior. Rev. Sam E. Solo’s contributions to the CD are the songs Through Me, A Place Called Calvary, Can’t Nobody Do Me Like Jesus, and I’ll Never Let You Down. Betty Maker sings Touch My Heart. She also shares a duet with Reggie Garland, I Praise You Lord. And, Reggie Garland closes out the CD with You Died On The Cross For Me.
Listen to the entire CD during the Quartet Mix at Gloryland Gospel Quartet Radio broadcast beginning August 24, 2010.

In 2003 The Shepherds released the CD Trilogy. In 2007 they released the CD Tribute. Both CDs were on the Amen Record Label and were received well by gospel music fans.
The group’s new CD, titled New Beginnings, is on Strawberry Vinyl Records Label. The title reflects that fact that there are new personnel in the group. Musician Lonnie Clark was formerly with The Flint Cavaliers. And, Dandre Williams is now the percussionist for the group.
There are 14 songs of the new CD. There is the down home ‘let’s go to church’ God Can. Radio Angels should like this particular track. It is sure to have listeners call to say “play that one again.” And, the same can be said about You Can’t Stop Me and Turn It Over.
In addition to the old fashion church songs, there are two bonus Christmas songs on the CD. They are Away In A Manger and Jesus, Wonderful Child.
According to The Shepherds, “We want to present Christ and draw people through his anointing. Our message is music ministry with the word of God blended together to give Him our most excellent praise.”
Well, they have reached their goal with the new release. When you put this CD in your player, get ready for a praise and worship service.

We just received the new CD Introducing The Anointed Brothers of Flint, Michigan. What an outstanding project. There are twelve songs on the project. There are many original songs on this the group’s freshman project. And, the Public Domain songs on the project certainly have original arrangements. This may be the group’s first CD, but they are certainly not neophytes to the music industry. They are polished outstanding singers. And, they know how to deliver a message that ministers to the listener.
The Anointed Brothers have been together for nine (9) years. However, the members have been involved in gospel music for many years before forming The Anointed Brothers.
Members of the group are Jeffery (Jay) Williams, Bobby Plair, Marc Nunn, and Robert Young, Jr. Williams was a member of The Bright Stars and The Sheperds of Flint, Michigan. Plair was also a member of The Sheperds. Nunn was a member of The Flint Cavaliers. The members are also songwriters, producers and musicians.
With twelve (12) songs on the project, there is something for everyone. From the opening chords of “It Could Have Been Me” to the final chord of “I Need Thee,” the Brothers deliver extraordinary vocals, inspiring messages, and just great gospel music.
