Totally CommittedAccording to their bio – “Totally Committed was organized in May 2000 by 2 friends Chris Cross and Keith Brown.” Since that time, the group has ministered with some of the best in gospel music. They have showcased their talents at numerous conventions and conferences.

They have been rewarded with the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) new artist showcase quartet division held in Tampa, Florida, nomination for the Prestige Award in the North Carolina Gospel Announcers Guild (NCGAG), the Gold Cup Award from the National Association of Gospel Promoters and Managers Conference (NAGPM), and were the first place winners in the new artist showcase quartet division at the (NAGPM).

The members of the group are Lamont Graves, Randolph McRae, Chris Cross, Lavon McGill, Felton Cross, Roscoe Smith, Kevin McClellan, Jakell Whittington, Richard Whittington, Jaterrean Chandler and Marquel Graham. The group is based out of Marion, South Carolina.

The guys are very serious about their music ministry. Reflective of that fact is their new CD titled The Time Has Come. This 10 track CD is sure to get your attention. There is not a weak song on the CD. From the arrangements to the messages being conveyed by each song, this CD is sure to minister to the listeners.

Tra'VanesRecently, we received a CD by Tra’Vanes titled Greatest Hits. From the bio accompanying the CD, Tra’Vanes is actually Evangelist Tracy Pittman of Tampa, Florida. She was a member of the family group The Harmony Winds Gospel Singers (also known as Tony Pittman and The Harmony Winds). The Harmony Winds are based out of Tampa, Florida. After leaving Harmony Winds, she started the group Evangelist Tracy Pittman and The Voices of Harmony. Now, she is pursuing a solo career.

The Greatest Hits’ CD contains five (5) songs, Words of Encouragement and Confessions. The songs are “Put Your Trust (In Jesus),” “It’s Me,” “Call Jesus,” “It’s Gonna Be Alright,” and “Tribute To Tampa.”

The Greatest Hits’ CD was actually released in 2007. For most gospel music listeners, they probably have not heard the songs on the CD. And, Radio Angels across the country would surely like the songs “Call Jesus” and “Put Your Trust (In Jesus).”

Many may not have heard of this label. That is about to change. Sharp Records is not just a gospel label. They have artists from all of the major genres, including Country and R & B.

They are the home of numerous gospel artists. As to the Quartet Gospel genre, they have groups like The Gospel Songbirds of Meridian, Mississippi, The Miracle Wonders, The Soulful Sunlighters of Griffin, Georgia, and The Jacksonaires of Star City, Arkansas.

Today we received CDs from Sharp on Jehovah Praise, Tampa, Florida, Rev. Roy Reed & The Zion Jubilees, Bryan, Texas, The Miller Singers, Birmingham, Alabama, The Rising Star Singers, Eastover, South Carolina, and Jimmy & Darlene Harrison. Let’s take a look at two (2) of them.

Jehovah Praise’s I Need You Right Now consists of six (6) songs. The lead singers are Patricia Hackshaw and Betty Jean Fletcher. The word “Praise” in the group’s name is very appropriate. For, the project could be described as good Praise and Worship by a gospel quartet group.

The Miller Singers CD is titled It’s Getting Late In The Evening. This is a seven (7) track project. Listening to this project reminds us that there are good gospel singers all around this country that are rarely knew beyond their hometown. Well, for some good down home gospel singing by a group you may not have heard before get the CD by The Miller Singers. Just listen to their rendition of “It’s Getting Late In The Evening” and you will be convinced it is time for them to be introduced to the world.
