In 2003 The Shepherds released the CD Trilogy. In 2007 they released the CD Tribute. Both CDs were on the Amen Record Label and were received well by gospel music fans.
The group’s new CD, titled New Beginnings, is on Strawberry Vinyl Records Label. The title reflects that fact that there are new personnel in the group. Musician Lonnie Clark was formerly with The Flint Cavaliers. And, Dandre Williams is now the percussionist for the group.
There are 14 songs of the new CD. There is the down home ‘let’s go to church’ God Can. Radio Angels should like this particular track. It is sure to have listeners call to say “play that one again.” And, the same can be said about You Can’t Stop Me and Turn It Over.
In addition to the old fashion church songs, there are two bonus Christmas songs on the CD. They are Away In A Manger and Jesus, Wonderful Child.
According to The Shepherds, “We want to present Christ and draw people through his anointing. Our message is music ministry with the word of God blended together to give Him our most excellent praise.”
Well, they have reached their goal with the new release. When you put this CD in your player, get ready for a praise and worship service.
Listen to songs from the CD during Gloryland Gospel Radio’s Quartet Gospel Mix on July 27, 2010.

Is it possible for an artist to pole-vault a label into the mainstream? In other words, can an artist by lending his name and stature to a label make it (the label) a player in the music industry?
Well, one example of that happening is with the label Firstlite Records. Doc McKenzie & The Gospel Hi-Lites were the first group to be signed by Firstlite Records. In fact, the label borrowed part of its name from Doc McKenzie & The Gospel Hi-Lites. The “lite” in Fristlite Records is taken from the group’s name. Doc McKenzie was, we understand, active in the formation of the label.
He certainly was instrumental in making the label an immediate player in the quartet gospel genre. Firstlite’s initial release was Doc McKenzie & The Gospel Hi-Lites’ Grab Your Blessings. The group would release three additional projects with Fristlite – Ride With Jesus, A Look Inside, and Live.
Firstlite has also released projects on The Angelaires, The Anointed Hinds Sisters, The Barrino Family featuring Fantasia, The Bright Clouds, The Brown Boys, Tammy Edwards & The Edwards Sisters, The Fewell Family, The Flint Cavaliers, The Gospel Jubilee Singers, The Gospel Midgets, The Lane Sisters, Greg Logins, The Virginia Aires, Curtis Watson and The Soulful Messengers, The Williams Sisters, Wisdom, and Youngblood & The New Gospel Seekers.

We just received the new CD Introducing The Anointed Brothers of Flint, Michigan. What an outstanding project. There are twelve songs on the project. There are many original songs on this the group’s freshman project. And, the Public Domain songs on the project certainly have original arrangements. This may be the group’s first CD, but they are certainly not neophytes to the music industry. They are polished outstanding singers. And, they know how to deliver a message that ministers to the listener.
The Anointed Brothers have been together for nine (9) years. However, the members have been involved in gospel music for many years before forming The Anointed Brothers.
Members of the group are Jeffery (Jay) Williams, Bobby Plair, Marc Nunn, and Robert Young, Jr. Williams was a member of The Bright Stars and The Sheperds of Flint, Michigan. Plair was also a member of The Sheperds. Nunn was a member of The Flint Cavaliers. The members are also songwriters, producers and musicians.
With twelve (12) songs on the project, there is something for everyone. From the opening chords of “It Could Have Been Me” to the final chord of “I Need Thee,” the Brothers deliver extraordinary vocals, inspiring messages, and just great gospel music.
